Maybe you’ve thought about starting a DivorceCare group at your church, but questions have kept you from moving forward:
If so, you’re not alone. And here’s the good news: DivorceCare is designed to make starting and leading a group approachable, supported, and sustainable. Whether you’re a seasoned ministry leader or someone who simply has a heart to help the hurting, you can do this—and you won’t have to do it alone. “The materials are easy to use,” shares a pastor in Texas. “Lay leaders can run with it and do a terrific job.”
DivorceCare is a turnkey ministry made for everyday church members—no counseling experience required. The program comes with all the tools and guidance needed to help people recover from the pain of separation or divorce. Here’s how it works:
“The Leader’s Guide has discussion questions. Step-by-step it tells you everything to do. And as you get used to it, you start making it your own.” Carol, DivorceCare facilitator
The DivorceCare leader’s guide is your week-by-week roadmap. It includes detailed session agendas, tips for facilitating discussion, and best practices for guiding participants through challenging emotional territory. Leaders are encouraged to bring their own guide each week to take notes and stay prepared.
“The videos stimulated our conversation as a group [and provided] a starting point. Then people brought out their own experiences related to the video.” Terry, DivorceCare facilitator
Each of the 13 weekly sessions begins with a 30-minute video featuring respected Christian counselors, pastors, and people who’ve experienced divorce. These videos do the heavy lifting of delivering key teaching—so you can focus on encouraging and supporting your group during the discussion that follows.
“I’ve already started using the material to train our team. As a trainer, I will say I’m totally impressed. As my daughter would say, ‘This tool is cool!’” Nyauci, DivorceCare facilitator
